Toward the celebration of Eid Mubarak 2017 (lebaran), XL Axiata ensures network preparedness to face a surge of traffic. The various preparatory efforts that have been made are presented by the Director / Chief Service Management Officer of XL Axiata, Yessie D. Yosetya at the visit of Minister of Communications & Informatics Rudiantara with BRTI and media at XL Axiata network monitoring center in Jakarta (23 / 6).
Director / Chief Service Management Officer of XL Axiata, Yessie D. Yosetya stated today the company continues all out preparing network readiness. This is a series of commitments to maintain the comfort of communicating the community/customers during the period of Ramadan and Eid Mubarak 2017 including during the community doing homecoming activities to his hometown.

Strengthen Reach on New Toll Road
Adjusting to government policies that open new toll road sections, including functional highways, XL Axiata has prepared infrastructure capable of serving customers crossing the new roads.
Preparation has been done, among others, in the form of installation of mobile base stations (MBTS), which almost all of them are MBTS that have the ability to support 4G network, in a number of locations. A total of more than 30 MBTS units that we specialize in order to anticipate the needs during Eid Mubarak 2017.
The technical team of XL Axiata has also conducted trials on all new toll roads in several segments in Central Java and East Java, as well as on the new toll road in Medan – Kuala Namu, North Sumatra.
Increased Traffic Lebaran ahead of Eid Mubarak 2017
The company reported, up to three days before Idul Fitri, began to see the movement of customer communication activities from the Jabotabek area to various locations in West Java, Central Java & Yogyakarta and East Java.
Customers who move from Jabotabek have reached 1.5 million subscribers so that the impact of XL Axiata’s number of communication activity in West Java increased by 12.5%, Central Java & DIY 16%, East Java 13%.
This increase is expected to continue for the period of three days after the Eid. During the homecoming and Lebaran period, XL traffic is expected to increase between 20% and 30% for Data service usage, and 5% for SMS and conversation services.
Yessie added that ahead of Eid Mubarak 2017, XL Axiata’s customer behavior in using data services also tends to increase. The use of social media becomes a favorite activity. Visible use of social media from streaming Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApps Messenger and Twitter dominates XL Axiata service traffic and is expected to increase during Lebaran and a few days after.
Capacity Building and Expansion of LTE 4G Network
To ensure the quality of networks and services, XL Axiata also increases network capacity by 2-3 times in some homecoming locations compared to normal days. With the addition of capacity, telecom operators with XL and AXIS brand are optimistic will be able to overcome a significant traffic spike. Specifically, XL Axiata also utilizes MME and MSS i Pool technologies on core networks that will facilitate the transfer of capacity from over capacity areas to areas requiring additional capacity.
This operator also continues to intensively expand the 4G LTE network until Lebaran 2017 at various locations including in areas that become homecoming routes and homecoming destinations. XL even claims to have been almost in all cities/districts on the island of Java covered XL 4G LTE service.
In the last week of June 2017, XL Axiata will also inaugurate the operation of 4G LTE service in several cities/regencies in Jambi Province. With the expansion ahead of Lebaran 2017, XL 4G LTE service has been entered in almost all cities/regencies in West Java, as well as 100% in all cities/districts of Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java.
Previously, from March to May 2017, XL Axiata inaugurated 4G LTE operation in West Sumatera and Lampung, East and West Kalimantan, and last week in Southeast Sulawesi.
Until now XL 4G LTE XL service has been enjoyed by more than 15 million customers in 250 cities/regencies in various regions of Indonesia, with the support of more than 13,000 4G BTS.
