As the 4G LTE service in Indonesia is still relatively new, Smartfren in early January 2016 launched a prepaid unlimited package. Unlimited internet service and FUP (fair usage policy) was popular among consumers but discontinued at the end of April 2016 because it is only a promo. Unlimited service then forwarded BOLT 4G + which only applies to postpaid. Since September 4, the provider launched Prepaid Unlimited package.
According to Billy Abe, Chief Product Officer of BOLT, the company’s commitment to customers is proven by launching the first Prepaid Unlimited package in Indonesia.
“Customers are familiar with BOLT as a 4G + operator that provides fast, stable and affordable Mobile Broadband services so we are happy to improve our service for Prepaid subscribers by presenting Unlimited internet package services,” said Billy Abe.
Further explained, this prepaid Unlimited package consists of three packages; Unlimited 3 days package with price Rp49.000, -, Unlimited 10 days package with price Rp139.000, – and Unlimited 30-day package with price Rp399.000, -, with tax already included in it. This package can be used for 24 hours without time limit.
But what consumers need to pay attention is, the speed given for these three packages is limited or still applied FUP (fair usage policy). The speed limit is uploaded up to 2 Mbps and the download is limited to 8 Mbps only. The difference is quite significant when compared to similar packages for postpaid customers ie up to 50 Mbps, but with different prices.
For postpaid packages at speeds up to 20 Mbps, it costs IDR 349.00. As for speeds up to 50 Mbps, the price is pegged IDR 449.000. From the tariff side, clearly more interesting postpaid package. The difference is, for a postpaid package no deposit and penalty fees.
