Jakarta, Gizmologi – The Indonesia Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) supports companies made by the locals to collaborate and develop the metaverse ecosystem in Indonesia. This local collaboration is expected to be a promising momentum for future technological and economic development.
“Metaverse Indonesia has begun to form from the sector whose user ecosystem is the most adaptive to adopt digital innovation,” said Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G. Plate as quoted in a press release by WIR, Saturday (12/3).
Johnny said that in the future the metaverse will continue to evolve and be used by the wider community. “Of course, this development uses resources, connectivity, and all elements of informatics in Indonesia, and involves various companies that have focused on developing it,” he said.
One of the nation’s subsidiary companies that is intensively developing the metaverse in the country is WIR Group which will also introduce the Metaverse Indonesia prototype to the global community through the peak event of the G-20 Presidency in Bali in November 2022.
In expanding its business to develop Metaverse in Indonesia, the company invites collaborations with both global and national companies to participate, for example in partnership with Meta and Microsoft for the development of hardware for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality glasses.
Local Collaboration for Metaverse Development Exploration in Indonesia
From within the country, the company collaborates across sectors to be able to join the metaverse ecosystem, starting from the financial sector with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), there is also the education sector with Trisakti Multimedia School, to the culinary sector, namely with Indonesian Food Museum.
Of course, collaboration with various parties is expected to encourage the presence of a metaverse known as “mixed reality” and enable the public to take advantage of services both in virtual and reality worlds effectively and innovatively.
Chief Marketing Officer WIR Global Gupta Sitorus said that although it is still in the early stages of development so that the metaverse in Indonesia can really be realized, at this time his party is optimistic that they can present mixed reality for the people of Indonesia.
The development phase of the metaverse platform in Indonesia by WIR has been prepared for Jakarta, Bali, and the New Capital City, namely the Archipelago under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics and the Ministry of Investment / Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) so that it is in line with Indonesia’s vision and goals.
“The world of this metaverse is limitless, but to navigate and interact in this world requires special ways. We are involved in building the metaverse with our expertise in the development of the latest augmented reality that can address the needs of the future metaverse,” said Gupta.
