In supporting the presence of reliable and equitable digital connectivity during the 2022 MotoGP event in Mandalika, Telkomsel has added 132 4G/LTE BTS to complete a total of 382 4G/LTE BTS operating to serve communication access needs, especially broadband for the community and visitors in the Mandalika area. Specifically in the Mandalika International Street Circuit area, Telkomsel also operates an additional 11 Compact Mobile BTS (COMBAT) 4G/LTE.
In addition, Telkomsel has also added and strengthened the capacity of all 4G/LTE BTS which is focused on a number of areas with the potential for high communication traffic spikes, such as lodging areas, culinary tourism locations, medical centers, transportation transit points such as airports and ports, places tourist destinations, to the Mandalika International Street Circuit.
Regarding the Hyper 5G network and service, Telkomsel is deploying 16 5G BTS covering a number of points in the Mandalika International Street Circuit and Lombok Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport. Telkomsel uses the frequencies of 2100 MHz and 2300 MHz which have been commercially held since last year, as well as additional frequencies of 3500 MHz and millimeter-wave 26 GHz (26000 MHz) which are temporarily permitted to be used by the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia during the Mandalika MotoGP.
In tests in the Mandalika area, the combination of frequencies of 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 2500 MHz can produce speeds of more than 2 Gbps. Meanwhile, in testing using a millimeter-wave frequency of 26 GHz, Telkomsel’s Hyper 5G speed reached more than 5 Gbps.
XL Axiata Participates in Presenting 5G in Mandalika, Strengthens Networks throughout Lombok
In addition to Telkomsel, XL Axiata Tbk (IDX: EXCL) is also ready to provide 5G services to make the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP race a success in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. As of March 18, 2022, the super-fast data and internet services can be accessed by customers using a 5G smartphone.
