Jakarta, Gizmologi – Fenomena tech winter tampaknya tidak membuat para talenta digital kehilangan peluangnya untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan. At least this is what JobStreet Indonesia revealed.
Beberapa bulan belakangan ini, banyak perusahaan teknologi dan startup yang melakukan lay-off karyawannya. Not a few have also closed their operations.
Fenomena yang disebut tech winter ini memang bisa dibilang mengglobal, terutama pada perusahaan-perusahaan internasional yang telah melakukan ekspansi ke banyak negara. Just call it JD.id which has permanently closed its operations in March 2023.
However, this does not mean that digital talents or HR with an IT background lose their career opportunities. According to Varuh Mehta, COO of Jobstreet Indonesia, the company's need for IT personnel is still very high.
On the JobStreet platform, he revealed that there are three major professions that are most sought after by companies, namely Sales, Data Scientist/AI, and Information Technology. These three needs exist in many companies, not just companies in the IT industry.
“Sales are needed because many companies want to increase their revenue after the economy improves after 25 years of the pandemic. Meanwhile, for digital talent, because many companies have already carried out digital transformation,” he told Gizmologi on the sidelines of a breaking of the fast event in Jakarta, Monday (10/4/2023).

Varuh menjelaskan, fenomena tech winter hanya terjadi di industri teknologi. Sementara pada legacy sector yang lebih konvensional, justru saat ini membutuhkan banyak talenta digital dan pertumbuhannya terbilang tinggi, seperti industri retail, travel, akomodasi, dan F&B.
“All these sectors are in need of technology. For example, Bluebird's application is now integrated with Garuda Indonesia, Gojek, and other ecosystems. Industri seperti ini membutuhkan people who will setup, manage, and secure the system. Technology is investment for the future,” to explain.
In addition, JobStreet also encourages companies to follow the current trend, where everything is online. In fact, this platform has started to recommend the profession of content creator to be available in many companies.
“Kami akan selalu open new sector, open new job, and open new way getting job. These are our three main focuses,” he concluded.

So, what exactly is meant by digital talent? In general, digital talent is someone who has the ability and skills to master digital technology.
According to Quipper, a UK-based technology training company, there are five skills that must be mastered to become a work-ready digital talent, namely the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, web development, search engine optimization (SEO), and project management.
