Jakarta, Gizmologi – Even though it is on the rise and very popular in the world of technology and AI, the latest surprising news comes from OpenAI, aka the parent company of ChatGPT. In a release issued at midnight last night (17/11), it was stated that the CEO was inconsistent while going through the review process by the board of the AI platform’s parent company.
Sam Altman’s position will be temporarily replaced by CTO, Mira Murati, while the company looks for a more suitable replacement. This information was enough to make the world of technology busy, to the point that Microsoft bosses and former Google officials also shared information and opinions on the contributions that Sam Altman has successfully made so far.
Another surprising news was the resignation of Greg Brockman from the board of directors and president of OpenAI, not long after the news about Sam Altman was officially spread. Through a post on platform X, both Sam and Greg conveyed a number of important messages regarding what actually happened.

Microsoft CEO Responds to Sam Altman’s Dismissal
Returning to the official release published by OpenAI, it was stated that the termination of Sam Altman as CEO was the cause of the unsmooth review process from the board. This 38 year old man was deemed not to be consistently honest in his communications, which was deemed to be hampering the board’s ability to carry out its responsibilities. “The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.”
Meanwhile, Sam Altman’s replacement, Mira Murati, will be appointed as interim leader of the company. Where he has served for 5 years at OpenAI, with his last position as Chief Technology Officer. Mira has been part of the launch of ChatGPT, and even previously joined and worked for Tesla.
The board of directors believes that Mira can replace Sam Altman while looking for a replacement. Currently, OpenAI’s board of directors consists of Ilya Sutskever as chief scientist, Adam D’Angelo who is the CEO of Quora, Tasha McCauley as a technology entrepreneur, and Helen Toner from the Georgetown Center for Security & Emerging Technology.
Through his official X platform account, Sam Altman said that he liked his time while serving at OpenAI. “It’s been very transformative for me personally, and hopefully the world will change a little. Most importantly, I’m excited to work with the talented people at OpenAI, and will have more to say about what’s next.”
Responding to Sam Altman’s departure from OpenAI, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella immediately released an official statement his personal X account. He said that his party remains committed to integrating OpenAI technology, because it has a long-term agreement. Meanwhile Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google praised Sam because he has succeeded in building a company with a value of up to USD90 billion.
Greg Brockman Immediately Resigns
Following Sam Altman, Greg Brockman as President & Co-Founder of OpenAI, also said goodbye to leaving the company. The statement he made to the OpenAI team was published publicly via the X account, saying that he was very proud of what had been built over the past 8 years. “But based on today’s news, I am stepping down.”
Not long afterward, Greg sent a post explaining how the news came to him and Sam Altman in fairly sequential time. It was stated that Sam’s dismissal was carried out via Google Meet, and happened quite quickly until finally an official release was published on the OpenAI website.
Not long after, Greg received a telephone call from the team, following a Google Meet link where a decision was made that he would be removed from the board of directors but it turned out that he had a vital role and his position remained unchanged – at the same time the official release was issued.
“The support provided is really very good, thank you. “But please don’t waste time worrying, we will be fine and bigger things will come soon,” concluded Greg.
