This statement was confirmed by Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison when launching Indosat MX Center (18/7) at KPPTI Jakarta. He believes that Indonesians are capable of developing with the digital industry.
This is the reason for the Indosat Marvelous Xperience Center (MX Center) which aims to encourage digital transformation in the Indonesian industry. According to him, Indosat MX Center brings innovations from various large technology companies, at least the community and SMEs can realize the magnitude of the power of technology to life.
“It is a hub of collaboration and innovation that empowers individuals as well as businesses. With the spirit of collaboration and gotong royong, we hope to accelerate Indonesia’s journey towards a developed nation,” said Vikram.
He believes that in 2045, Indonesia could be flooded with digital talents, so the need to encourage the spirit of technology development must be done from now on.
The Innovation Center is called Indosat MX Center
What would happen if we experienced the atmosphere of the future firsthand? So far, we may have seen it many times when watching various science-fiction movies. However, we can now experience the sensation when we visit Indosat MX Center.
Here, we can take a journey into an amazing tech hub and explore the incredible world of innovation. This place is a showcase that becomes a center for services to cutting-edge technology solutions, such as 5G, AI, IoT and others.
Upon entering the Indosat MX Center, there is a large room, complete with seating and a large TV screen. The room is a community area, which can be used to hold discussions about technology.
Near the large community room, there are also smaller rooms that can be utilized by visitors to hold more private business meetings. Then, we can take a tour, to see some interesting technological innovations.
Unmitigated, to present this Indosat MX Center, Indosat collaborates with a number of world-leading technology companies such as Google, Meta, Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE and Cisco. This place does carry the concept of co-creation which is expected to improve user experience. To help redefine the future of corporate innovation with unique, immersive experiences that will inspire visitors.
Later, Indosat MX Center also provides a personalized and tailored experience for each visitor. They will have an intimate setting to engage directly with experts, ask questions, and explore solutions that are specifically aligned with their respective business goals.
Kurnia Putu Iskandar Silitonga, VP Experience Center Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, explains more about this initiative. According to him, there are three main things that MX Center wants to emphasize. The first is “Bring Innovation Life”which means creating more tangible innovations. Second is the spirit of mutual cooperation with Indosat’s business partners. And finally “empowering Indonesia”which means empowering the Indonesian people through technology.
MX Center visitors can experience first-hand the cutting-edge technology that can be used in their daily lives and in their companies or organizations. One of the interesting features at the MX Center is Max, a robotic dog from ZTE whose function is not just for entertainment such as walking and so on, but has many more benefits than that.
“Max is very useful in helping evacuate victims of natural disasters. This shows how technology can help in emergency situations,” He said.
In addition, there is also a use case from Nokia called Smart Education which is based on VR (Virtual Reality). The technology supports equal access to education because teachers and students can conduct teaching and learning activities remotely, using VR.
Then there’s Google Connected Home that helps manage your home on a daily basis, making life more convenient. There is also a simulation of smart mining from Huawei supported by Indosat’s 5G network. Through this technology, mining and oil and gas companies can be safer in operating their equipment remotely. Serta masih ada berbagai use case lainnya yang memanfaatkan teknologi 5G dan IoT.
Empowering MSMEs, Women, and Digital Talents
If at the MX Center we see things that are all futuristic, Indosat remains “stepping on the earth” by working to strengthen it. In Indonesia, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a very important role, even at the forefront of national economic growth. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that MSMEs contribute up to 69 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).
On the other hand, MSMEs also face various challenges, such as intense competition, limited capital, and limited access to digital technology. For this reason, a digital solution is needed that can help MSMEs increase productivity, efficiency, and business security.
IOH develops a digital ecosystem for MSMEs through Indosat Digital Ecosystem (IDE) by Indosat Business which continues to develop practical features ranging from installments to adding modules and learning materials that can be enjoyed by its users.
One year since its launch, IDE by Indosat Business has now helped empower more than 30 thousand users who are MSMEs and entrepreneurs throughout Indonesia. According to Muhammad Buldansyah, Director and Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, the development of this digital ecosystem is an implementation of the company’s commitment to the empowerment of Indonesian society.
“Lewat IDE by Indosat Business, kami dapat memberikan dukungan layanan edukasi dan data insight dalam one-stop-solutions digital ecosystem. We also open various opportunities for cooperation and collaboration with various parties who have the same vision to support the development of MSMEs in the country,” he added.
Along the way, the platform has established several components in its digital ecosystem, including IDE Academy, which is a platform and solution for entrepreneurs to get free education from experts. Also Wawasan IDE which is a channel to get data-based insights according to the business needs of each MSME player. Not to forget, IDE by Indosat Business also provides a platform for various business solutions through the IDE Store on the same platform.
Equally important to pay attention to are women who are the main actors of MSMEs in Indonesia. It is imperative to support them through inclusive digital technology excellence, as it is projected that 64% of MSMEs will go digital by 2027.
Equal digital access for women needs to be pursued collaboratively for greater impact. Indosat organizes SheHacks 2023 to continue to be a key collaborator in empowering Indonesians and become a key driver of the nation’s digital economic growth.

In addition, Indosat also demonstrated its commitment to addressing the digital talent gap through collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy. They will train the first batch of 50,000 IDCamp participants to 200,000 people living in remote areas in the next three years, including high schools, vocational high schools, universities, and non-profit organizations.
Supporting the Acceleration of Digital Transformation
The growth of information-based development is currently experiencing a very fast pace around the world. This year, Indonesia’s digital technology landscape will experience significant progress and transformation.
According to Sanjeev Rawat, Chief Digital Officer of IOH, the company is now strategically positioned to play an important role in Indonesia’s digital transformation journey by empowering every Indonesian. “With a strong commitment to the spirit of Gotong Royong and connectivity, we aim to revolutionize the digital landscape, bridge the digital divide, and most importantly empower individuals, businesses, and communities across Indonesia,” He said.
One of the highlights is that the phenomenon of artificial intelligence (AI) has reached an increasingly sophisticated stage of use with the popularity of ChatGPT. AI language models are used by users from different backgrounds, age groups, and for different types of purposes.
He revealed that telecommunications businesses in Indonesia are also utilizing OpenAI to drive innovation, improve customer experience, and optimize operational efficiency. The emergence of cloud-connected sensors and the formation of the Internet of Things (IoT) market will revolutionize the way industries and individuals harness the power of internet-connected devices and enable seamless data collection and analysis for better decision-making. Adoption of eSIM for IoT will advance connectivity for Internet of Things devices, enabling efficient management and scalability.
For Indonesia, which is currently entering the era of technological transformation 4.0, is in dire need of internet infrastructure and digital solutions, including 5G services, to support and accelerate the process of digital transformation to the era of 5.0.
The expansion of the 5G network continues to be carried out by Indosat since its launch until 2022. By 2023, the company managed to increase the number of 5G base stations to 90 units, up 18 units from the previous year’s 72 units. The results of the increase in the number of 5G base stations resulted in a positive impact on services. 5G services are currently accessible in major cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Solo, Surabaya, Makassar, Balikpapan, Karawang, Bandar Lampung, and Bali.
