As a complement to productivity when in the office, accessories such as wireless chargers are attractive because they can charge smartphones practically, without the need for cables. However, most accessories available on the market have slower charging speeds or are bulky in size. AUKEY MagFusion Z is here as an answer, at a premium price.
3-in-1 wireless charging solutions are generally designed to be placed on a table, not carried between locations. This latest AUKEY accessory is designed to be portable because of its foldable design, even put in a trouser pocket, while carrying the latest compatibility, namely Qi2, which can charge the iPhone faster. No longer far apart from using cables.
With premium quality, it is also priced at a premium price. Is this AUKEY accessory worth buying? Here is the full AUKEY MagFusion Z review.
Design
Unlike most desktop wireless chargers, the AUKEY MagFusion Z has a key feature that makes it suitable for traveling, namely in its design. As Gizmo friends can see, this premium accessory device is designed to be foldable. Even its size is equivalent to a smartphone in general.
The thickness is less than 18mm, but it is a bit heavy at 60 grams, because the material is really designed to be sturdy and solid. With ease, AUKEY MagFusion Z can fit into pants pockets, tote bag pockets, sling bags and more. However, in the sales package, AUKEY includes a special case for storing the cable and charger adapter at the same time for practicality.
During the review, I chose to only bring the AUKEY MagFusion Z unit and I paired it with a GaN charger and my personal USB-C cable, it felt compact enough and easy to carry anywhere. The setup process is also very easy, by opening and rotating the other two parts to be able to charge three devices at once.
You can even adjust the angle of inclination to your liking—if you only want to charge your iPhone? In that case, simply plug in the AUKEY MagFusion Z in the folded position with a USB-C cable only. It is only natural that the AUKEY MagFusion Z wireless charger has won an award from Reddot (2024) for its highly portable design innovation.

AUKEY MagFusion Z Features
So, what can this AUKEY MagFusion Z accessory do? As a wireless charging station, this device can charge three different types of Apple devices; iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods Pro, via the front side, back side, and rotating charger for smartwatches respectively. What I think is important is the QI2 certification and MFW aka Made for (Apple) Watch.
It would be good for Gizmo friends to read the explanation of the benefits of Qi2 in the following article. In short, this is the latest Qi standard to ensure efficient charging at 15W current, using a magnetic mechanism to prevent the device from falling off easily. For Apple smartphones, it has been available since the iPhone 12 (with iOS 17.2 and above). And in the future, it will be more present on Android smartphones.
While the MFW standard ensures also fast and efficient charging for the Apple Watch at 5W output. In addition, the rear side that can be used for AirPods Pro also supports 5W output. This is the reason AUKEY includes a 30W charger adapter in the AUKEY MagFusion Z sales package, so that it can charge three devices at once at maximum speed.
The magnet on the front of the AUKEY MagFusion Z can ““glue” my iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is currently Apple’s heaviest smartphone, with precision, without having to worry about falling from various angles. Also, it doesn't cover the Apple Watch screen display which by default can be pinned to the right. No need to wait long, each device can start charging.
The AUKEY MagFusion Z has a number of light indicators on the side, as information when the device is working or charging. Except for the light on the Qi2 part which only lights up at the beginning—which is normal, considering you can check the battery indicator by turning on the iPhone/Apple Watch screen directly. Oh yes, the AUKEY MagFusion Z is also compatible with non-Apple devices, but in some notes.
Compatibility
As long as it supports the same Qi wireless charging standard, you can charge other devices using the AUKEY MagFusion Z. For example, at one time, I used this device to charge the Galaxy S24 (with the magnetic case to stick it on), Nothing Ear (2) on the back, and a Huawei smartwatch on the Apple Watch charging cradle.
Charging speed for each, depends on device compatibility. And specifically for smartwatches, not all of them support wireless charging, and can be charged using a charger that is specifically designed for the Apple Watch. For example, for the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro, it takes longer for the charging process to finally start. While the Xiaomi Watch S3 smartwatch is not compatible.
Of course, it would be more interesting if later more Android smartphone vendors applied the Qi2 standard, including embedding magnetic connectors on the smartphone body like the latest iPhone, so that there is no need to use a case. Another note, AUKEY MagFusion Z can also charge iPhone in landscape position, to display the StandBy feature with a digital clock or other information from widgets, to make it more functional when placed on the bedside table.
Meanwhile, when placed on the work desk, I can access the iPhone that is charging with the AUKEY MagFusion Z quite freely, thanks to its flexible tilt angle. Even while making a video call—but make sure you are in a cool room, or using a stable Wi-Fi network, so that your smartphone doesn't overheat.
Conclusion
Stylish, sturdy, tiny when folded, yet very functional as a wireless charger for three devices at once. AUKEY MagFusion Z is an interesting solution for Gizmo friends who may have previously looked down on wireless chargers, because it can now offer faster and more efficient charging thanks to the Qi2 standard. The price can be said to be quite expensive.
At its official store on e-commerce, the price of AUKEY MagFusion Z is listed at IDR 13 million, from the normal price of IDR 2 million. However, the premium price includes a two-year guarantee for unlimited unit replacement if there is any damage during use. The price of Apple device accessories is generally quite expensive, so with the 3-in-1 charging function, it is still quite rational and worth buying.
