Having become part of people's daily activities, the role of wireless earphones, aka true wireless stereo (TWS), is now increasingly dominant. It is no longer just for listening to music, but also as a communication tool. Present to meet the entry-level segment, realme Buds T110 offers better battery life.
Just like its smartphones, realme is also quite routine in presenting wearable options at more affordable prices, ranging from smartwatches to TWS earphones. Apart from the realme Buds T110, there is also the realme Buds Air 6 Series which brings hi-res audio codec support at a price of less than IDR 1 million. Each brings its own advantages in its segment.
For a TWS earphone costing around Rp 200 thousand, there's not much to expect in terms of the number of features, such as ANC and the like. But what is more important is how the essential features are good enough to support daily activities. Here is the full review of realme Buds T110.
Design
The easiest way to differentiate the realme Buds T110 from the previous generation is through its new color option, namely Country Green. Unfortunately, what I'm reviewing this time is the black version, which is exactly like the Buds T100. This color option is suitable for Gizmo friends who don't want flashy earphones, aka more understated when in use.
Each earbud weighs around 43 grams, which is light and comfortable to use. Even though they both have a design with a stem on the bottom, the realme Buds T110 and T100 are the TWS that I always choose for jogging or running, because the fitting is the best. Of course, for this one, it depends on the dimensions and shape of each person's ears.
One of the factors that makes it comfortable is of course its shape, smaller than, for example, the OPPO Enco Buds 2 overall, even though both are priced similarly. And just like in-ear earphones, realme provides a number of additional eartip options, in addition to a short charging cable with a USB-C connection.
Feature
Because the price is very affordable, it is natural that the features offered by realme through the realme Buds T110 are not that many. Yes, there is noise canceling, but it is not like ANC. But to reduce noise when making calls, so that the recipient of the call can hear our voice more clearly.
The AI ENC on the realme Buds T110 is worth appreciating, as it is significantly able to make voice calls clearer in a variety of different conditions; in a crowded cafe, in a shopping center, and even when walking outside. Even gusts of wind can be dampened. What is still difficult is when it is really crowded around you, or there are other sounds such as train sounds or very strong gusts of wind—it is better to find another time or location to call.
Because it is still relatively new, the realme Buds T110 already supports Bluetooth 50 connections.4, which of course can provide a more stable connection. There is a special gaming mode that can reduce latency to 88ms. Meanwhile, Google's instant connection protocol Fast Pair is also supported, making the pairing process on Android devices easier.
More or less, those are the only features that can be found on the realme Buds T110. These cheap TWS earphones still do not support the feature to automatically stop/play music when removed and inserted into the ear, as well as the feature to be able to connect to two devices at once.
Operation
As for the gesture options themselves, unfortunately they are not the most complete, although they are more than sufficient for essential control. Each earbud supports three gesture shortcuts; double-tap, triple-tap, and touch-and-hold gestures for music control and access to other smartphone features. Of course, it can be customized according to taste via the application on your smartphone.
Although it can be used directly, I highly recommend users to download the realme Link app—the good news is that it is available for both Android and iOS operating systems. In addition to the shortcut gesture control for each eartip, you can also activate gaming mode which can reduce latency or delay in sound output.
The realme Link app for realme Buds T110 also gives users the option to choose three different sound effects; Balanced is more suitable for many types of audio, Bass Boost+ if you want more dominant bass, or Bright which is suitable for content such as podcasts and audiobooks. When you feel that the maximum volume is not loud enough, you can also turn on the volume enhancer option available in it.
Audio Quality
To provide the ultimate music listening experience, each realme Buds T110 earbud is equipped with a 10mm dynamic driver—which is fairly standard in its class. realme also uses a number of special materials which are expected to help provide better audio quality. Including titanium-coated composites which are claimed to provide maximum frequency.
On its official website, realme itself emphasizes the maximum bass thumping capability of the realme Buds T110, as well as the mid & high frequencies which also remain clear. Based on usage experience, the bass is quite powerful, even without activating Bass Boost+ mode. However, when the beat is forced/maximized, the other frequencies become slightly less intense.
This kind of situation is quite common, especially for TWS earphones in this price segment. As long as Gizmo friends don't force themselves to activate Bass Boost+ mode and set the volume to high to listen to pop, EDM or other music, I think the audio quality of the realme Buds T110 is satisfactory, of course with a character that tends to be warm. Overall, the impression is similar to when I used the OPPO Enco Buds 2.
The resulting audio output makes these affordable realme wireless earphones suitable for listening to various music genres, including podcasts. Even though it doesn't support codecs like LDAC, it's still perfectly fine for playing songs from your favorite artists through various existing music streaming platforms.
Battery
What differentiates the realme Buds T110 from the previous generation is the battery capacity of the charging case. Bigger at 460 mAh, total playback time can now be up to 38 hours. In other words, it can charge both earphones up to 4-5 times, a pretty impressive value especially from a case that is quite portable in size.
That way, you don't need to charge the charging case of the realme Buds T110 often. In my usage style, at most only once every two weeks or so. Meanwhile, the battery for each earbud is still the same, 40 mAh. This power is claimed to be able to play music for up to 7 hours.
Since I mostly use the realme Buds T110 at a volume higher than 60%, the battery life is reasonable if not as impressive as realme claims, but at least it is still around 6 hours. Using a USB-C port, realme Buds T110 only takes 10 minutes to play music for up to 2 hours.
Conclusion
Long-lasting battery, comfortable to use, quite powerful sound output, with microphone quality that is quite good. In my opinion, these four factors are enough to make the realme Buds T110 the best option at a very affordable price. There are also a number of extra features such as gaming mode and audio profiles that can be accessed from the application.
The realme Link application is also compatible with smartphones released by Apple, which is another added value. Of course, if Gizmo friends are looking for extra features such as noise cancellation when listening to music, they have to dig deeper into their pockets to buy a more expensive series such as the realme Buds Air 6.
