Jakarta, Gizmology – Although the prototype has never surfaced clearly, it is said that Apple has stopped developing its smart car. And to find other ways to win consumers, the so-called smart home ecosystem will be “substitute”. At least it will be massively present in the next two years, until it presents homeOS.
Information related to Apple’s interest in the smart home ecosystem was again conveyed by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, who quite often shares accurate leaks related to the latest Apple rumors. He mentioned that Vision Pro still cannot achieve much profit due to the number of variants and selling prices. As for smart home products, the types are limited to smart speakers and set-top boxes.
Both smart home products, according to Mark, have succeeded in getting the attention of consumers, but still lack competitiveness compared to their competitors. For this reason, in the future, Apple is ready to emphasize the screen and software (software) more massively in housing, for an end-to-end experience. One of them includes homeOS.

Integrate Apple Intelligence for Personalized User Recognition
Compared to other competitors such as Amazon and Google, Apple is considered to be lagging behind in the smart home products and services category, and is said to be less able to grow thanks to its strategy that is still in the form of an ecosystem. The good news is that Apple is preparing a hardware suite that prioritizes accessory compatibility.
One of the efforts, including by developing Matter as a smart home device protocol, so that all device ecosystems from Amazon, Google, and Apple can work together, aka interconnected. In addition to better compatibility, it also integrates artificial intelligence aka AI – of course through Apple Intelligence.
Mark mentioned that Apple is aiming to use the Apple Intelligence platform to facilitate device automation, control of applications, devices, media, and more. He also leaked an Apple plan that sounds very interesting, which is to create a new system of App Intents.
Simply put, through App Intents, Apple will utilize artificial intelligence, embedding it into Siri, to manipulate certain features in an application, aka replicating what we usually want to do in that application.
As mentioned earlier, Apple will prioritize the screen in the home. For this part, it is in accordance with previous rumors, where Apple is preparing a tabletop device that generally has a large screen for interaction.
Prepare New OS homeOS, Based on tvOS
AI in these products will make it easier for future Apple products to recognize who is giving commands, including what they are doing. This is intended to tailor commands to each user’s individual desires-similar technology, already embedded by Google through its artificial smart speaker.
Furthermore, the strategy that Apple wants to strengthen, is on software. There is said to be a new operating system, called homeOS, specifically for smart home devices. Mark mentioned that this latest operating system uses parts of tvOS. The development of homeOS itself will be carried out by a special Home Ecosystem team, which is said to have worked on Apple’s smart car project.
Apple’s tabletop device with homeOS is said to debut for a premium product, with a price of around USD1000 or around Rp15 million. Besides being able to help with daily activities, it is also for residential surveillance, better video conference calls, and as an entertainment tool with the best audio quality.
