When first introduced this year, Apple’s AI, called Apple Intelligence, had a myriad of plans including generative AI and advanced customization. But unfortunately, until the iPhone 16 Series is unveiled, Apple’s own AI features are still not available to all users.
Indeed, users who want to try Apple’s AI, can download the Public Beta version of the software, which is already available for both the latest iPhone, iPad, and macOS. But for other regular users, it will be available later this month. And the features are still very limited – as stated by Apple earlier, if Apple’s AI features will come in stages.
Now the latest report from Mark Gurman says that Apple has many challenges, to win the hearts of its consumers through Apple Intelligence. But the situation is believed to improve by at least next year, when more features will be available, as well as the list of compatible devices.

Apple AI is still inferior to ChatGPT
Through his weekly newsletter, Mark Gurman mentioned that Apple’s AI feature will be available around October 28th. That is, still five days after the first sale of the latest iPad mini. That way, not only iPhone 16 Series users are promised to enjoy Apple’s AI features. Although all of its promotional materials, mention Apple Intelligence, including on its official website page.
Interestingly, Mark also conducted an internal study to Apple employees. Based on the results of the study, OpenAI’s ChatGPT is able to provide 25% more accurate AI processing results than Apple’s Siri, and can answer 30% better questions. For information, consumers will be able to choose if they want to use ChatGPT in answering questions through Siri, later when Apple’s AI is available.
Not only that, some workers inside Apple, consider that currently Apple’s AI technology is at least two years behind other AI competitors that are no less popular. However, Mark believes that Apple can catch up, armed with a very popular brand name, and a relatively complete product portfolio.
The situation was different last year, when only the iPhone 15 Pro Series supported Apple’s AI Intelligence feature. But from this year to next year, almost all Apple products on each line, support Apple AI. This includes the latest iPhone 16 Series, iPad mini, Air and Pro, as well as a range of Mac devices with Apple M Series chips.
Only the base iPad doesn’t support it yet-Mark mentions, it’s likely Apple will bring an update next year. As for the Apple Watch, it does not specifically support Apple’s AI. But features like Notification Summary will certainly be able to be forwarded to the Apple watch. No need to fully embed Apple Intelligence.
Ready to Popularize Apple Intelligence with Full Product Portfolio
To catch up, Mark also mentioned Apple Maps as an example of how the Cupertino-based company can catch up, with much better advantages and reliability. And thanks to both hardware and software under one roof, Apple can bring updates to many devices at once.
Unlike Android smartphones that use a combination of different chipsets and from various brands, Apple can bring updates such as Apple Intelligence simultaneously, including to laptops released in 2021 that already carry the Apple M1 chip. While Android 15 itself is now only available on Google Pixel, and a number of other brands, in not much time.
In addition to the cheapest version of the iPad, Apple is also preparing the latest iPhone SE, which could also be a “Apple’s “bridge” brings Apple’s AI capabilities to more people. At launch, Apple’s AI features will be more complete, including generative AI and more.
