Jakarta, Gizmologi – Ahead of the screening of the film The Shadow Strays on Netflix, Timo Tjahjanto, the director of the film, and the cast shared interesting stories, Tuesday (15/10/2024). The story shared includes the meaning of the film The Shadow Strays.
This action film premiered in the Midnight Madness program at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Meanwhile, on Netflix it will air on October 17, 2024.
The Shadow Strays follows the story of a young assassin nicknamed 13 who bonds with a boy while he is on leave after a mission goes wrong. When the boy goes missing, 13 sets out on a quest to find him even as he faces off against his mentor and the organization he belongs to, The Shadows.

Timo Tjahjanto Shares the Meaning of the Film The Shadow Strays
Dalam konferensi pers, Timo Tjahjanto yang bertindak sebagai sutradara dan penulis film ini berbagi mengenai apa yang mendorongnya menciptakanThe Shadow Strays beserta para karakternya.In his story, he wants all the characters he creates to feel like they are breathing.
"I want to tell the dynamics between a teacher and his student. Saya ingin cerita ini lebih dari sekadar dua karakter utama, karena saya rasa penting sekali dunia film itu terasalived in, bahwa karakter-karakter ini terasa bernafas,” ujarnya.
“Even though we don't tell them directly, the audience can understand their desires and see another side of them. Things like that sometimes take time (to be shown in a film). Tapi sebagaifilmmakeryang mementingkan karakter, bagi saya itu sesuatu yangworth it,” tambah Timo.
Timo Tjahjanto also expressed his appreciation to the actors who were involved in an action film for the first time, such as Aurora Ribero who played the role of 13. The long and intense training series includes both body preparation and fight choreography.
“At the beginning of the training it felt very difficult. Moreover, this is my first action film, and I have to train more than the other actors. But once the others came in, I was already an expert," said Aurora.
Selain sebagai film laga yang intens,The Shadow Straysjuga menghadirkan kompleksitas karakter-karakter antagonis. Interestingly, Timo's approach to the complexity of the characters in the film is also seen in the various choices of weapons they use.
