Jakarta, Gizmologi – The Xbox Transparency Report revealed that there are more than 4,8 million fake accounts suspended from Xbox services. Microsoft said the fake accounts have been circulating since mid-2022.
Xbox is doing this to protect players and moderate content on the platform, as Microsoft continues to add game categories to the Xbox Game Pass service.
“Publishing this report is part of our long-term commitment to online safety, addressing learning and doing more to help people understand how to play a positive role in the Xbox community,” said General Manager for Xbox Product Services Dave McCarthy in his statement, Friday (18/11).
There were a total of 7,126 million enforcement actions taken by Xbox and Microsoft between January 1 and June 30 in 2022. Microsoft recorded 4,5 million (63%) suspensions of all enforcement actions, 196.000 (3%) content removal incidents, and 2,43 million (34%) account suspension and content removal incidents.
That number represents 57% of enforcement actions over the six-month span, and Microsoft saw a nine-fold increase in the number of proactive attempts compared to the same period last year.

Microsoft Suspended Fake Accounts

Xbox itself means that the fake accounts in question are usually automated accounts or accounts created by bots to create an unbalanced playing field and can reduce the positive player experience.
“Our proactive moderation, up 9x from the same period last year, allows us to catch negative content and behavior before it reaches players. We continue to invest in and improve our technology so players can have a safe, positive, and inviting experience,” Microsoft said.
Previously, Microsoft had devoted most of its actions to 'reactive enforcement' (action taken as a result of reporting by other players). Last year, Microsoft took reactive enforcement against 2,24 million players. Meanwhile, proactive action was only 461.000.
Furthermore, the company revealed that players had provided more than 33 million reports of toxic players in this period, with communication (46%) and behavior (43%) accounting for the majority of player concerns.
“Microsoft has a long-standing commitment to online safety, and at Xbox, we strive to create a place where everyone can play within the boundaries they set, free from fear and intimidation,”
