Jakarta, Gizmologi โ Following the impact of several protests over the past few days, several Transjakarta and MRT stations in Jakarta have been damaged, resulting in the shutdown of some stations and the inaccessibility of MRT gates. Consequently, a Rp1 fare has been implemented for the Jakarta MRT, which also applies to Transjakarta.
Typically, the Rp1 Jakarta MRT fare is only implemented on certain days, including during Indonesian Independence Day celebrations. However, this time, the Rp1 fare is being implemented as compensation from each of the mass transportation providers, which are used daily by residents of the capital to travel from one point to another, especially to work.
Previously, the Jakarta MRT implemented a short-loop service system, where trains operated only at a limited number of stations, to avoid the chaos that had occurred in several areas near MRT stations, including the Sudirman area. However, since Monday (September 1), the full-loop service has been implemented, meaning full operation has resumed with entry restrictions at certain stations.

In addition to the Rp1 fare for the Jakarta MRT, a similar fare also applies to Transjakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Jakarta government has allocated approximately Rp18 billion to subsidize public transportation services in the city.
"We have to provide transportation subsidies because the free transportation costs approximately Rp18 billion, up to this week," he explained from Jakarta City Hall on Monday (September 1), as quoted by BeritaNasional. Pramono added that at least 9 bus stops were affected by the demonstrations, six of which were burned.
"We've been cleaning all the damaged bus stops since last Saturday and will begin repairs soon. Hopefully, we can complete the repairs, both moderately and severely damaged, by September 8th or 9th," he added.
