This year, 17 winners were selected from 45 finalists through direct curation by the App Store editorial team, with assessments covering innovation, design, user experience, and cultural impact.
Apple CEO Tim Cook named the winners of the 2025 App Store Awards as representing the ever-growing creativity and quality of the App Store. With over 800 million weekly visitors across 175 countries, the App Store is a strategic global showcase for developers of all sizes.
On the other hand, the 2025 App Store Awards also underscored Apple's growing position as a major player in the digital services sector. However, the App Store's dominance continues to fuel long-standing debates over commissions, app distribution rules, and the space for small developers to operate within an increasingly closed ecosystem.

iPhone App of the Year: Tiimo
iPad App of the Year: Detail
Mac App of the Year: Essayist
Apple Vision Pro App of the Year: Explore POV
Apple Watch App of the Year: Strava
Apple TV App of the Year: HBO Max
Tiimo was deemed superior with its AI-based visual planning approach that enhances productivity, including for neurodivergent users. Strava once again demonstrated its dominance in wearables, while HBO Max won thanks to its comprehensive content and accessibility features.
While the list is filled with quality apps, most of the winners come from established services. This means that the opportunity for surprises from new apps remains limited at this year's event.

For the games category, Apple stipulates:
iPhone Game of the Year: Pokemon TCG Pocket
iPad Game of the Year: DREDGE
Mac Game of the Year: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
Apple Vision Pro Game of the Year: Nubi Port
Apple Arcade Game of the Year: WHAT'S THE CLASH?
Pokemon TCG Pocket was considered a success in presenting a touchscreen-friendly card format, while Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac showed a serious improvement in gaming performance on Apple platforms.
Meanwhile, the six winners in the 2025 Cultural Impact category are Art of Fauna, Chants of Sennaar, Despelote, Be My Eyes, Focus Friend, and StoryGraph. These apps are considered to have social contributions and inclusivity, although their true impact remains highly dependent on user adoption outside of Apple's network.
