Jakarta, Gizmology โ Samsung has confirmed that the Exynos 2600 will be the world's first mobile SoC (system-on-chip) manufactured using the 2nm process. This move marks increasing competition with TSMC and Apple, which are also developing similar technology for next-generation devices.
This news emerged after the Exynos 2600's Geekbench test scores showed significant performance improvements. However, even though it's ready for mass production, there's no certainty yet whether Samsung will immediately include it in the entire upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup. A decision is reportedly expected to be made between October and December of this year, pending the results of an internal evaluation.
For Samsung, the success of the Exynos 2600 isn't just about performance, but also about reputation. After the Exynos 2500 failed to meet expectations, many considered the 2600 series to be a "comeback" for their in-house chipset line. The question now is, will 2nm technology truly deliver a significant leap forward, or is it simply a new label in a fierce competition?

Adoption Challenges on the Galaxy S26

If used in the Galaxy S26, the Exynos 2600 would compete directly with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which likely uses a similar fabrication process. Qualcomm has long been known for its consistent flagship performance, so Samsung will be required to provide concrete evidence that the Exynos can compete with it.
Furthermore, distribution strategy is a crucial consideration. In recent years, Samsung has often divided the market with two different chipsets: Snapdragon for the US market and some premium regions, while Exynos is available in Asia and Europe. This strategy has often drawn criticism, as consumers perceive different quality in different regions. The decision on whether the Exynos 2600 will be used globally will significantly impact consumer perception of the Galaxy S26 series.
