Jakarta, Gizmologi – In recent weeks, netizens have been quite abusive about the highly concerning Grok AI trend. Leveraging its digital manipulation capabilities, many platform X users have misused it, causing widespread unrest. Therefore, the government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), has officially temporarily cut off access to Grok AI as of today (January 10th).
Yes, Komdigi had previously provided a specific response to the Grok AI trend, but at that time, they only mentioned a number of risks if it were allowed to continue. Grok AI itself is better known as an AI platform similar to ChatGPT, which is now integrated into the social media platform X. Although, Grok AI can now also be accessed without X, making it a worthy competitor to Google Gemini.
In addition to answering various questions, Grok AI also allows users to create new images based on text input commands, also known as prompts. More dangerously, Grok AI can also manipulate other people's photos using deepfake digital manipulation capabilities, resulting in remarkably realistic results.

Komdigi: "We Request Platform X to Provide Clarification Immediately"

In an official statement, Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, stated that her office has temporarily suspended access to the Grok AI platform. This step was taken as a preventative measure to protect women, children, and the entire community from the risk of fake pornographic content generated using AI technology.
"The government views the practice of nonconsensual sexual deepfakes as a serious violation of human rights, dignity, and citizen security in the digital space," Meutya explained. In addition to temporarily blocking access, Komdigi is also asking platform X to immediately provide clarification regarding the negative impacts that have emerged, particularly in the past few days, which have been quite massive.
Furthermore, the temporary termination of access to the Grok AI platform was taken based on the Ministry of Communication and Information's authority, as stipulated in Ministerial Regulation No. 5 of 2020 concerning Private Electronic System Providers (PSEs). Article 9 states that every PSE must ensure that the electronic systems it manages do not contain, facilitate, or disseminate prohibited electronic information and/or electronic documents.
Meutya added that improper use of Grok AI, such as creating and distributing fake pornographic content without the consent of the target party, constitutes a form of digital violence. The impact is undoubtedly devastating, as it can harm the victim socially, legally, and psychologically.
Not only taking place in Indonesia, but also in several other countries

Previously, Grok AI had released a statement stating that only paid subscribers on the platform could create and edit images. However, the negative trend that has emerged in recent days seems to disprove this statement. Anyone can create or modify images without a subscription, including modifying other people's images or those from other tweets.
Besides Indonesia, several other regions have also criticized Platform X and Grok AI, including the UK, the European Union, and India. India itself is reportedly ordering Platform X to make immediate changes to prevent the negative impacts of misuse of its AI features.
