Bekasi, Gizmology – LG Electronics today (6/7) announced the establishment of its newest Research and Development (R&D) center in Indonesia. The company's move to add a research and development center outside of South Korea is part of the company's seriousness in strengthening the position of its TV products in Asia in particular and globally.
According to Park Hyoung-sei, president of LG Home Entertainment Company, this research and development center is a new step forward for LG. "It allows us to better reach consumers through a one-stop operation that easily connects all steps of the supply chain, from product development to user service," said Park Hyoung-sei on the sidelines of the inauguration of its opening in the Cibutung area, Bekasi.
This statement is inseparable from the existence of LG's Research and Development Center which complements LG's operational support in Indonesia. Previously, LG was recorded as having two facilities from its subsidiary in Indonesia, LG Electronics Indonesia, namely a TV production facility in Cibitung, Bekasi and a sales marketing head office in Jakarta.
LG's R&D Center in Indonesia is located in one of LG's factory areas in Cibitung, Bekasi. Lee So-yeoun has been appointed as the head of LG's R&D Center in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Park Hyoung-sei stated that the existence of this R&D will play a key role in increasing optimization of operations that will strengthen LG TV products in Asia and at the same time strengthen the company's foothold in the global TV market.
"This facility will also be a testing ground for LG's latest innovations that will be part of TV development for the global market," he said again.
The establishment of LG's research and development center in Indonesia is in line with the direction of LG CEO William Cho. During his visit to Indonesia in April, William Cho said he emphasized the importance of fully localizing business operations to deliver new levels of excellence in quality, cost and delivery.
Among its main roles, LG's research and development center in Indonesia will oversee all research projects related to TV products targeting the global market. But on the other hand, its existence will also play a role in developing various new variants of LG TV products that will be more aimed at serving the rapidly growing market in Asia and especially Indonesia.
The establishment of LG's research and development center in Indonesia is not something that happened suddenly. This step began with LG's initiative to create a research and development center for LG Electronics Indonesia in 2021. This step was then followed by the formation of a new team under the Home Entertainment Company, which is part of LG's company that specializes in the development and marketing of products related to home entertainment devices.
Furthermore, to support various research projects in its new facility, LG plans to hire more professionals and aims to increase the number of employees to 500 by 2025. In addition, the company will also strengthen ties with local universities, launching industry-academic cooperation projects to find new talents in various areas of need.
