PIndonesian women are expected to be more digitally literate. Moreover, currently there is a lot of information that cannot be accounted for its truth in the form of hoaxes or fake news. Because of that, Ministry of Communication and Information and XL Axiata initiated the โSisternet Smart Cornerโ learning vehicle.
The facility is designed as a 'halfway house' for women to learn, share, and broaden their horizons. There are various topics discussed such as various issues of women's empowerment and socio-economic opportunities by utilizing digital technology.
According to Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Information, technology must be utilized by women to be more empowered and develop their potential. Starting from consuming quality information to being used to increase income to improve the economy.
"I appreciate the telecommunications ecosystem that can play a role in empowering women in utilizing technology wisely and beneficially," he said when inaugurating the Sisternet Smart Corner at the Kominfo Building, Jakarta (4/3/2019).
Meanwhile, Yessie D. Yosetya, XL Axiata Technology Director, said that the digital era opens up wide opportunities for anyone to improve their abilities by empowering their potential. Including for all Indonesian women.
"Moreover, with the existence of data networks that are increasingly expanding to remote areas. So there is no reason for rural women not to be equal in access to educational resources and increase economic opportunities," he said.
According to Yessie, this is a real manifestation of the ICT ecosystem in accelerating the social and economic progress of society with digital technology. "Sisternet's Smart Corner is part of our efforts to encourage Indonesian women to advance socially and economically," explained Yessie.
