Solo, Gizmology – Sunset is one of the most magical moments ever sought by photographers and videographers. The sky's gradual shift from orange to purple, the reflection of light on the water's surface, and even the silhouettes of trees can all make for stunning footage.
In the My Gadget My Adventure: Road Trip to Solo program, the Gizmologi team had the opportunity to capture this moment at Cengklik Reservoir, Boyolali, using the Galaxy S25 Edge. The result? A sunset transformed into a cinematic spectacle thanks to the ProVisual Engine and Log Video features.
For travelers, content creators, or anyone looking to capture natural moments with a cinematic touch, the Galaxy S25 Edge could be the perfect choice. From Solo, we prove it—the beauty of sunsets can now be captured and presented in film-quality, simply by holding your hand.
Golden Hour at Cengklik Reservoir

Cengklik Reservoir is renowned as one of the best sunset spots in Central Java. The expansive water surface, serene atmosphere, and mountainous backdrop make the sunset here truly special. We arrived around 4:30 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), ensuring all our equipment was ready. This time, we only brought one device to record: the Galaxy S25 Edge.
With its slim, comfortable-to-hold design and 200MP camera equipped with the latest technology, this smartphone is the ideal companion for capturing golden hour footage. As soon as the sun started to set, we immediately activated Pro Video mode to harness the full potential of the ProVisual Engine.
What is ProVisual Engine?

ProVisual Engine is the intelligent image processing system on the Galaxy S25 Edge that optimizes photos and videos, especially in complex lighting conditions like sunsets. This technology automatically adjusts exposure, saturation, and detail to ensure natural yet rich colors.
For more cinematic video results, the Galaxy S25 Edge now supports the Galaxy LOG feature on both cameras, which provides flexibility in color settings during the editing process for a more dramatic content theme atmosphere.
Interestingly, when used in conjunction with Log Video mode, users can record with a flat color profile. The results may appear "pale" in person, but this format is ideal for color grading in editing. With LOG, we can adjust the color tone to suit the desired mood—from warm, dramatic tones to an indie film vibe.
ProVisual Engine offers several advantages for cinematic video. First, sharp detail in low light. The ProVisual Engine maintains sharp object details without excessive noise. Second, wide dynamic range. Third, complete manual control, where Pro Video mode allows for manual adjustment of ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus for results exactly according to the creator's desires.
Recording Experience with Galaxy Log Video
Once golden hour arrived, we activated Pro Video mode and selected the LOG format. The Galaxy S25 Edge's advantage is its ability to record LOG directly on the smartphone without the need for additional accessories.
The results really leave a lot of room for exploration in post-production. For example, our sunset footage initially looked neutral, but after color grading, the sky became more dramatic, the water reflected golden light, and the silhouettes of the trees appeared contrasting yet natural.
This process usually requires a professional camera and large file sizes, but the Galaxy S25 Edge proves that cinematic results can be achieved from a thin smartphone that is comfortable to carry anywhere.
The experience of capturing a sunset at Cengklik Reservoir with the Galaxy S25 Edge proves that smartphone technology is now capable of producing footage comparable to professional cameras. The combination of the ProVisual Engine, Pro Video mode, and the LOG format allows creators complete control over the final result while also providing ease of mobility.
Tips for Making Cinematic Videos Using ProVisual Engine

If you want to try making a cinematic sunset video like the one we did at Cengklik Reservoir, here are some tips you can apply:
- Use 'Pro Video' mode during golden hour
Golden hour typically occurs one hour before sunset. The light at this time is softer and the sky colors richer. - Save the results as a LOG file for advanced color grading.
Although it may initially appear flat, the LOG format provides maximum flexibility to adjust colors as desired during the editing stage. - Stabilize the camera
The Galaxy S25 Edge features built-in stabilization known as OIS (Optimal Image Stabilization) to reduce blur in photos and videos caused by handshake while shooting. However, using a tripod or gimbal is still recommended to ensure smooth video movement. - Set manual white balance
For sunsets, set the white balance to 'Daylight' or 'Cloudy' mode for a more consistent orange color. - Experimenting with framing
Use silhouettes of trees, buildings, or people as foreground to give visual depth to the video.
