Xiaomi Announces Recall of 33W 20000mAh Power Banks, Reporting Fire Risk

Jakarta, Gizmologi – Xiaomi, in addition to smartphones, has a comprehensive device ecosystem in Indonesia, including accessories like portable chargers and power banks. Unfortunately, there's some unfortunate news: certain Xiaomi 20000mAh power banks are being recalled globally.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened with portable chargers—some time ago, Anker also recalled a number of its power banks, offering refunds and advising consumers to return them immediately for safety reasons. The Xiaomi 20000mAh power bank series being recalled is the 33W version with an integrated cable, model PD2030MI. More specifically, the device, manufactured between August and September 2024, is said to have the potential to malfunction under certain usage conditions. This could cause the battery to overheat and pose a fire risk.

In an official statement, Xiaomi Indonesia said, "Although the number of known incidents is relatively small, in order to maintain high product quality standards, Xiaomi has decided to recall the affected units. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Xiaomi remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality products to users worldwide."
