BlackBerry Aurora Officially Launched, First 4G LTE Smartphone Made in Indonesia

Since no longer producing smartphones because of lost in competition, BlackBerry has a surefire way that still exists in the market. Because the brand is still strong among consumers, especially Indonesia, the BlackBerry license partnership with Tiphone and form a joint venture company of PT BB Merah Putih in September last year. Six months later, exactly today, the first smartphones made by BB Merah Putih appeared through the debut of the BlackBerry Aurora.

The company calls, BlackBerry Aurora is the first device which is designed and produced in Indonesia. This is also first BlackBerry smartphone in Indonesia to use the Android operating system. And the first BlackBerry device in the world to be equipped with dual-SIM functionality. Also coupled with an additional security system that allows us to protect your data and important files and protect your privacy.

Stanley Widjaja, Vice President of BB Merah Putih, at the launch at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, today (9/3), said the BlackBerry Aurora is designed specifically to fulfill the needs of Indonesian customers with full entertainment features packaged in a premium device that also delivers the productivity, privacy and security that the BlackBerry brand deliver.

Features and Specifications of BlackBerry Aurora

BlackBerry Aurora is a dual SIM  4G LTE smartphone with 5.5” HD 720p touchscreen. On the part of the core, the smartphone has equipped Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset with 1.4 GHz speed processor and 4GB RAM, giving a performance that is reliable enough to meet the need for a smartphone. Although, it should be noted that Snapdragon 425 is not a high-end but affordable chipset for middle to low-end devices. So, please don’t expect too much.

The Smartphone is also reinforced with 3,000 mAh Li-ion battery, which is claimed to be able to endure to normal use for 30 hours.

The beautifully designed BlackBerry Aurora comes with a number of features that are uniquely BlackBerry. The device runs Android OS 7.0 Nougat – giving users access to the entire Google Play store and apps – and will receive regular security updates. It will come pre-loaded with BlackBerry Hub, a unified messaging inbox which combines emails, texts, and messages from social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, BBM, Whatsapp, Instagram, and others.

What really sets a BlackBerry smartphone apart from other Android devices are the enhanced security features built into every device right from the start. From a hardened operating system to BlackBerry Limited’s proprietary technique for establishing a hardware root of trust by adding security keys to the processor, the BlackBerry Aurora is intentionally designed to offer the most secure Android smartphone.

The BlackBerry Aurora comes pre-loaded with DTEK by BlackBerry, offering constant security monitoring and protection of operating system and apps by letting the user know when privacy could be at risk and how we can take action to improve it. This BlackBerry security application monitors other apps, alerting if one is accessing camera to take a picture or video, turning the microphone on, sending a text message, or accessing contacts or location.

BlackBerry Aurora can be purchased at a price of Rp. 3,499,000 through pre-orders in various online e-commerce in Indonesia starting Friday, March 3, 2017, until Sunday, March 12, 2017. Throughout the pre-order period, customers have the chance to receive a special prize as well payment options with a one-year installment. BlackBerry Aurora is also supported by quality network services in big cities across Indonesia.
