Equity investment amounting US$150 million will be provided from PT Astra International Tbk. (Astra) to GO-JEK following Indonesians’ high demand over the latter’s transportation-technology based services.
The equity investment will make the two firms more active in managing transportation and application. Astra has been long excelled in automotive field while GO-JEK has successfully reached many consumers through its business line. The equity investment will enable both of them to create new products and innovations for the country’s economy growth, says a press release that we obtain yesterday.
Upon its first launching, GO-JEK has provided livelihoods for millions of Indonesians. The equity investment will aid GO-JEK’s business line to get stronger after more than 1 million drivers have registered themselves at the GO-JEK application and over 125,000 merchants have cooperated with GO-JEK. GO-JEK offers delivery service not only for picking up and taking passengers to somewhere but also carrying foods, things, cleaning up and payment system. More than 1 million transactions have been made via GO-JEK per month.
